Starting from April 1st, 2018, policy on prioritizing groups willing to purchase a hiking insurance in effect

Modifiers Date:2018-01-29 Released By:Yushan National Park Headquarters

It is essential for hikers to be aware of the risks of hiking. In order to spread the risks and to encourage visitors to purchase a hiking insurance, a new policy will be taken effect from April 1st, 2018. Applications for Yushan Main/West Peak Day Hike and long-distance trekking routes will still be processed in chronological order. Yet, between 1 to 2 months before entry date, groups providing a copy of the hiking insurance policy and the policy’s insured member list have priority to get available slots.

For the exact dates, please refer to the YSNP Lottery Draw Schedule (postponed when encountering holidays). For instance, a group intends to enter the park on May 3rd, 2018. If this group purchases a hiking insurance and submits an application between March 3rd and 15:00 of April 3rd, this group has priority to get available slots. One other group plans to enter the park on on May 4th, 2018. If this group purchases a hiking insurance and submits an application between March 4th and 9:00 of April 9th, this group has priority to get available slots.

It is required for groups that only upload the policy’s insured member list or the insurance proposal to provide a valid hiking insurance policy within 7 days; or, this application will be declined. It’s necessary to submit a new application if the group still wants to visit the park.
